Superb Tent

It’s always a pleasure to visit Tent London. Now in its fifth year at the Old Truman Brewery, the design event hosts over 200 international exhibitors, showing the very latest in contemporary interior products - furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles, materials and accessories.

We discussed wallpaper with Famille Summerbelle, treated to homemade muffins on Muffin Pouffes ’ stand, shared jokes with Mini Moderns, and overall, were smitten by the incredible work of some designers.

All For Children

Tomorrow sees the launch of  H&M and UNICEF’s special range of children’s clothing, All for Children.

The collaborative collection will be available in 150 stores worldwide and on-line, with 25% of all sales going directly to UNICEF’s project, working towards the promotion of children’s rights to education and protection  in some of the poorest parts of the world, where many of H&M’s clothes are made.
Children can read about Moritz the sheep in an accompanying picture book full of games, then dress their very own Moritz in exactly the same outfits, with a wardrobe full of mini-versions of the collection.

The collection includes patterned jumpers or aviator jackets for boys and floral print trousers or character t-shirts for girls.

Children can help children this September and be fashionable for a good cause.

Up, Up and Away!

We're always on the look out for new designers that wow us with their creativity. This week, we discovered the Japanese team of Satoshi Itasaka and Takuto Usami and their brand "h220430".

Inspired by the French movie, “Le Ballon Rouge”, this bench is suspended from the ceiling by 4 anchors concealed by the balloons to create a floating illusion.

Speaking of their furniture, the duo expressed the importance that great design shouldn't be limited to adults, but should be accessible to the children who will form the future. The EVA chair, designed specifically for children, also caught our eye and captured our hearts.

This lightweight, environmentally friendly chair is available in various vibrant colours. Easily self assembled, the chair can be built up and broken down quickly so it's easily stored away.

We All Scream for Ice Cream

Ever since German photographer Achim Lippoth's photo exhibition at Bubble London in July 2008, we’ve kept an eye on his renowned work, regulary featured in Kid’s Wear Magazine.

Along with recent campaigns for Calvin Klein and American Eagle childrenswear, this summer Achim Lippoth worked with Mars, Bounty, Snickers and French agency CLM BBDO Paris on an ice cream campaign!

Don't worry, Achim says the kids cheered up when they got to enjoy the real ice creams after pretending to drop theirs for the camera in this 'Really Excited about Ice Cream' shoot!

What do you think?

One for the Grown-Ups!

Due to popular demand, Poppy has finally expanded its signature use of nostalgic prints with a contemporary twist to an adult’s range.

Designer Poppy Richardson says "Customers and friends have been pleading with us for years to create adult versions of our dresses – now we have! Some are mothers with daughters who love the idea of matching outfits, but mostly it's people who just love our prints”.

Inspired by 1950s shapes, these beautifully tailored dresses come in three styles – Beatrice, Grace and Edith – in sizes from 10-16, and are priced from £98 RRP.

Don't miss Poppy's range for babies, boys and girls up to 7 years old at the Autumn/Winter edition of Bubble London on 29 & 30 January 2012.
